Dynamics AX 2012 has a good view showing product inventory information, and based on the following site:
I decided to re-design the form picture with clear symbols, to show the formulas used, as at least for me, there is still some ambiguity when i visit it:
(image can be clicked to show in a bigger size)
A. Physical Inventory: It shows you the total available quantity
B. Physical Reserved: It shows the quantity that is reserved in Sales Order.
C. Available Physical: It shows the actual quantity that is available for transactions. It is calculated by subtracting Physical Reserved from Physical Inventory.
C = A – B
D. Available for reservation: It shows you the quantities in open purchase orders available for reservation(yet to be received).
E. Ordered in total: It shows the total qty that is open in Purchase order(yet to be received)
F. Ordered Reserved: It shows you the quantities reserved from purchase orders(yet to be received).
It is calculated by summation of available Physical with qty left after subtracting Ordered Reserved from Ordered in total.
D = C + (E – F)
G. On order in total: It shows you the quantity in open sales order(yet to be delivered)
H.Total Available : It shows you the net available physical quantities for transaction.
It is calculated by subtracting On order in total from Available for reservation.
H = D – G
I. Physical Cost Amount: It shows you the amount posted in ledger physically.
J. Financial Cost Amount: It shows you the amount posted in ledger financially.
K. Cost Price: It shows you the item average cost.
L. Posted Quantity: It shows you the quantity posted financially.
M. Deducted: It shows you the quantities have physical packing list posted in Sales order.
N. Picked: It shows you the quantities have picking list posted in Sales order.
O. Received: It shows you the quantities have physical updated in Purchase order.
P. Registered: It shows you the quantities registered in Purchased order.
Last, there is a saying from one user that:
Currently available in warehouse = A – G
